Comfortable Bras for Tween Girls: Why They’re an Essential for Back-to-School

Back-to-School Shopping Isn’t Just About School Supplies
Back-to-school shopping has changed a lot since I was a kid.
We still buy notebooks, pencils, and way too many folders (I sorely miss Lisa Frank). There’s something about the smell of new crayons that makes me wax nostalgic. But now that my daughters are getting older, I’ve realized there are other things that matter just as much as school supplies.
Like comfort, confidence, and clothing that doesn’t become one more thing for them to worry about during an already overwhelming school day.
Comfortable Basics Can Make a Big Difference
Recently, we received a package from Bleuet, a company that creates bras and underwear specifically for tween and teen girls, and I immediately understood why so many families love the brand.

One thing I appreciate is that Bleuet isn’t simply making smaller versions of adult lingerie. Their pieces are designed with growing girls in mind and focus on comfort first. They’re tag-free, soft, and thoughtfully designed for girls who may have sensitive skin or sensory preferences. Sizes run from kids XS to adult XXL, with cup sizes AA-C, and best of all, there are no annoying removable pads to lose in the laundry.
Why I Want My Daughters to Think About Comfort Differently
If you’re anything like me, bras tend to stay at the bottom of the shopping list. Maybe you have a favorite one that’s ten years old and hanging on for dear life (not speaking from experience or anything…). But I don’t want my daughters to grow up thinking discomfort is just something women are expected to put up with. Finding comfortable bras for tween girls may seem like a small thing, but I think it’s one way we can teach girls that their comfort matters. I want them to see choosing clothes that fit well and feel good, even the layers no one else sees, as a small but meaningful act of self-care.
As a mom and former teacher, I know firsthand how uncomfortable clothing can distract kids from paying attention, participating in PE, or simply feeling at ease around their peers. As a former tween, I have a vivid memory of a time I wore a strapless bra to school, completely forgetting I had soccer practice that afternoon. Not. Fun.
An uncomfortable bra can seem like a small thing, but if straps dig in, fabric itches, or a band shifts around all day, it can become a distraction that’s hard to ignore (if you know, you know).
Our Experience with Bleuet
The pieces we received feel incredibly soft, and I liked seeing practical features like adjustable straps and wider bands for support without looking overly mature. One of the bras we received was even reversible!
My oldest immediately commented on how soft they felt, which is a huge win in our house. We already need to order more because she’d happily wear hers every day. She only reaches for her other bras when the Bleuet ones are in the wash.
We’re especially excited to try their new Lotus Sports Bra for volleyball camp this summer.
Bleuet offers several options for girls at different stages, from first bra starter packs (I LOVE this idea!) to sports styles and organic collections. They also have bundles that make back-to-school shopping a little easier for parents trying to check multiple items off the list at once. There are also plenty of helpful resources for girls trying their first bra and for parents navigating the process alongside them.
If you’re shopping for a tween or teen this season, you can browse Bleuet’s back-to-school collection here. Shop their Back-to-School sale July 24 through August 16 for 20% off sitewide, with up to 30% off select bundles and sets!
Back-to-school shopping can feel overwhelming, so I try to focus on the bigger picture: helping my girls begin the school year feeling supported, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. If we can give them one less thing to worry about, that’s a win in my book.
